David Smith

David graduated from Cambridge with a BA in English and some years later also gained a degree in Law. He has been a partner at Annette Green Authors' Agency since 2001 and has helped launched the careers of many writers of both fiction and non-fiction. He has often been invited to speak to classes of MA Creative Writing Students and he contributed a chapter entitled The Literary Agent to the University of Edinburgh's Handbook of Creative Writing.

He has many years of experience in offering creative editorial advice to authors.

His favourite writers include Alice Hoffman, Dennis Lehane, James Thurber, George Eliot, Edward Wilson, Natalie Haynes, Elmore Leonard, Paul Auster, Tove Jansson and Ian McEwan. He is also partial to a bit of poetry from the likes of T S Eliot, Keats, Blake, Plath and Dickinson. His favourite novel is Eliot's 'The Mill on the Floss'.
